OWEN EPHRAIM
MILES FOR MEMORIES
This October
From the 9th to the 12th, I’ll be running from North Wales to South Wales — a 250km journey over 4 days, covering more than 80km a day.
I’m doing this in memory of my dad, who we lost to cancer in 2021, and my friend Siôn Mullane, who tragically took his own life in 2020.
The route is deeply personal. I’ll start outside the house where my dad grew up in Yr Wyddgrug, North Wales, and run all the way home to Taffs Well, Cardiff — retracing a journey our family made countless times. My sister and I would be squashed in the back of the car, boot full of bags, 5 Live Radio playing loud while Mum passed Dad a packet of cheese and onion crisps as he hurtled down the A470 like a rally driver.
Before my dad died, someone gave me a piece of advice I’ll never forget: record a conversation.
In one voice note, my dad told me about being made redundant from his factory job in North Wales — and how he used that money to move to Cardiff with my mum. That decision shaped all of our lives.

Now, I want to honour both the journey he made and the one we travelled together as a family
I’m raising money for two charities close to my heart
Tenovus Cancer Care – who support cancer patients and their families across Wales. Cancer tore through my family and left a lifelong scar, but the work of Tenovusdo offers hope and support when it’s needed most.
The Siôn Mullane Foundation – set up in memory of my friend Siôn, who we lost far too soon. The foundation helps young people in Wales raise their aspirations, reach their potential, and make a positive impact in their communities.
This run is about remembering, honouring, and giving back. If you can donate, share, or support in any way — thank you. It means the world.
